Moving Home in Australia

There are specific things you need to tend to in the few days leading up to a big move.

Here is a list of the most important tasks to remember when moving home.

Have everything set up and ready for you at your new place. For instance, make sure you have allowed the electric company plenty of time to turn on your new account.

Do the same for your phone, internet, and other services.

- Notify your bank of the move or, if switching banks, make sure you have enough cash until you arrive at your new location and have everything else transferred a few days early to your new account.

This way, if there are any delays due to a large transfer or banking policies, your money will be available when you arrive.

If you have an internet payment service account, such as Paypal, to be sure to notify them of the bank change as well.

- Do a last look through of your current home or apartment to make sure you have not left anything behind. It is easy to forget items that are tucked away inside of places that we rarely look in.

- Make sure all windows are properly secured before you leave. Also lock all doors.

Once you have accomplished all of this, the only thing left to do is to leave.

Take one last bittersweet look at you old home and get prepared to settle in to your new one.
